The Twentynine Palms High School Varsity Basketball Team traveled away to Shadow Hills Friday night. Coach Mike Schneider said the game started with nice defensive efforts for both teams. Scoring was at a minimum, and the halftime result was 25 points for both teams. The second half was a completely different story for the Wildcats. The ‘Cats went on a 20-to-4 run and they never let up. The final was a victory for the Wildcats, 58-to-39, leaving the Knights of Shadow Hills frustrated offensively.

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team moved into sole possession of second place in the De Anza League Friday night with a 51-29 victory over Big Bear in Trojan Gym. The team, now 4-1 in league and 11-4 overall, hosts Desert Hot Springs Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Trojan Gym.

The Yucca Valley High School Girls Soccer team hosted Big Bear High School Friday in De Anza League play. The entire team played very strong holding off the Lady Bears and gaining the victory 2-1.

The Yucca Valley High School varsity and junior varsity wrestling teams competed this past weekend in some of their final competitions to tune up for league finals. The Varsity team wrestled in the West Covina tournament. The Trojans finished 14th overall out of 42 teams. The JV team competed in the Rim of the World tournament in Lake Arrowhead on Saturday.

Both squads now prepare for their final De Anza league team competition as they will wrestle Shadow Hills at Shadow Hills this Wednesday. The Trojans are undefeated in league competition so far.

Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School soccer teams host Desert Mirage High School in Thermal. The girls’ game starts at 3:15; boys follow at 5. The Yucca Valley High School soccer teams host the Desert Hot Springs High School Eagles at home tomorrow. Girls at 3:15; boys follow.

The Joshua Springs boys’ basketball team travels away to Desert Chapel. The girls’ game starts at 5, boys at 6:30.
