HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

Tuesday afternoon baseball at Yucca Valley High School turned up all roses for the Trojans against Big Bear High School. Coach Brian Schoenborn said pitcher Travis Shartel was in complete command all afternoon.  With eight runs, Shartel shut down the Bears through seven innings, giving up one run with two strikeouts. Final score 8-1.
 
The junior varsity won 9-2.
 
The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ varsity tennis team hosted the Trojans of Yucca Valley on Monday. The Wildcats came away with the victory beating the Trojans 11 to 7. The Wildcats were led by singles’ player John Lanza sweeping all three sets, and Mark Issarraraz winning two of his sets. In doubles action, Brett Hope and Nathan Thomas, Sean Sears and Colby Thomas swept all three of their sets. 

Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School Trojan swim team will host Rancho Mirage High School. The meet starts at 3:15 p.m.

The Trojan tennis team will travel away to Desert Mirage High School; first serve is at 3:15.

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan and Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat track teams will compete against each other in Twentynine Palms, starting at 3:15.

The Wildcat tennis team will travel away to Rancho Mirage High school. The Twentynine Palms High School swim team will host Desert Hot Springs at home. Both events start at 3:15.

In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School golf team will host Desert Hot Springs at home. Tee time is 2:45 p.m.

The Yucca Valley Trojan and the Twentynine Palms Wildcat baseball and softball teams will play each other tomorrow in Yucca Valley. Both games start at 3:15.

The Wildcat golfers will tee up against Shadow Hills High School at home tomorrow, starting at 2:45.

And finally, the Joshua Springs Lightning baseball team will host Desert Christian Academy at home, starting at 3:15.
