The Twentynine Palms Wildcat boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Desert Hot Springs to take on the Eagles. The Wildcats came away with a victory in an exciting fourth quarter. The 70-66 win over the Eagles increases the boys’ record to 17-4 on the season and 7-1 in league. Coach Jeremy Johnson said the Wildcats were led by D’Shaun Barrett with 23 points, followed by Abraham Bell with 14 points, and Jimmy Shragge with 12 points.

Yucca Valley boys’ soccer lost 8 to 0 to Desert Mirage. Coach Jorge Rodriguez said the guys never gave up, they played a very good team and gained valuable experience. Player of the game honors go to senior Giovanni Costagliola for his positive attitude and leadership.

The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team played against Desert Mirage High School in De Anza League play. Coach Scott Phillips said the Lady Trojans dominated the contest earning a 4-0 victory. Sophomore Jackie Bolha led the way with two goals. Junior Alexia Missett added one goal and one assist. Freshman Riley Vallo also had one goal and one assist. Junior Hayli Mayhood added two assists. And senior Nikole Cody recorded the shutout. Next up for the Lady Trojans will be a home game against Big Bear High School today in Trojan Stadium. The game begins at 5 p.m.

The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Wildcats soccer team hosted Desert Hot Springs High School Friday evening, resulting in a 7-0 loss for junior varsity and a 3-0 loss for the varsity team. Coach Richard Sanchez said senior goalkeeper Maranda Palmer contributed 18 saves for varsity. Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Soster had nine saves for junior varsity.

The Yucca Valley High School boys’ and girls’ basketball and soccer games scheduled for today against Big Bear High School have been cancelled due to weather.
