The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team traveled to Rancho Mirage High School last night and came home with a 58-31 De Anza league victory over the Rattlers, ending the Rattlers’ 13-game win streak. The win moves the Lady Trojans’ record to 13-5 overall and 2-1 in league.
Coach Jess Geeson said senior Kiley Pitts spearheaded the attack with a game-high 14 points. She was followed by freshman Sara Mills with 11 points, and seniors Zena Yakimow and Savannah Beasley who added eight points each. The Lady Trojans have a home game Friday against Desert Mirage. JV tips off at 4:30 p.m. and varsity follows at 6:30 p.m. at Trojan Gym. 
  
Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer played a home league game yesterday. Coach Jorge Rodriguez said varsity lost 4 to 1; junior varsity lost 4 to 0.
The only varsity goal was scored by junior midfielder Erick Meneses. Rodriguez said, “We are improving with every game, and our guys are playing with lots of effort, we will continue to work to earn our first win.”
For junior varsity, player of the match was junior goalkeeper Luke Jones.
 
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team played Rancho Mirage High School yesterday. Coach Shelton said varsity lost 4 to 0 and the JV team lost 2 to 1.
