The Twentynine Palms boys basketball team opened De Anza League play with a 92-54 win over host Desert Mirage Rams.
Coach T.J. Stanford said leading the scoring was Adam Bell with 30 points, including six three-pointers. Brian Thornton had 15 points, Abraham Bell had 11 points, and Jordan Toa pitched in 10 points.

Twentynine Palms Girls’ Basketball started league play by defeating Desert Mirage 75-55.
Coach Tim Stanford said Lindsey Scamman had 28 points and Gabby Mackall had 12 points.

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team opened up their De Anza League schedule with a 63-22 win over Coachella Valley last night in Trojan Gym.
Coach Jess Geeson said jumping out to a 36-10 halftime lead, the Yucca Valley girls were led by senior Savannah Beasley’s 13 points. She was followed by freshman Sara Mills and junior Angie Reutgen, who each scored 12 points. Sophomore Coy Smith pitched in eight points for the local girls, who upped their record to 12-4 on the season.

Yucca Valley High School Boys soccer played their first league game in Coachella Valley. Varsity lost 8 to 1.
Coach Jorge Rodriguez said the only goal scored was by sophomore Alan Campos, who was also named player of the match. “We played a very good Coachella team tonight, all of our players showed great effort.”
Yucca Valley’s junior varsity lost 5 to 1.
Coach Adan Mendoza said “Our only goal was scored by freshman Tyler Sine, who was named player of the match. “It was not the outcome we wanted, the boys worked hard and with our heads high. They played like a team and proved that we can put it in the back of the net.”

The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Wildcat soccer teams traveled to Desert Mirage last night. Coach Warrick Yeager said, despite playing their hearts out, both the junior varsity and varsity teams failed to find the back of the net. The JV team suffered a 4-0 loss while the varsity team lost 5-0.

Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School wrestling team will host Coachella Valley High School at home. The match starts at 6 p.m.
