HI-DESERT MEDICAL CENTER TO START PROCESS TO PUT TAX ON 2014 BALLOT

The Hi-Desert Medical Center Board met last night. Reporter Mike Lipsitz said they are eyeing a new tax on the 2014 ballot…

Last night at Hi-Desert Medical Center the Board of Directors voted to begin the process to place a tax initiative on the November 2014 ballot. Far from a done deal, the action merely initiates the process and is in addition to a number of steps already being taken to stabilize district finances. The District has struggled with finances during recent years, resulting in substantial erosion of reserves. In her comments, Board President, Korina Cole noted that a tax measure would require an open dialogue with the public. “We have to ask the people of this community to support this valuable asset,” she said. In other business, directors received an update on the Waste Water Treatment Plant, which is expected to go fully online the first week of October.
