HI-DESERT MEDICAL CENTER GRADES COMING UP

Since being taken over by Tenet Health two years ago, Joshua Tree’s Hi-Desert Medical Center has shown steady improvement. Reporter David Haldane says that the trend continues with the facility’s latest report card…
If you get sick and end up at Hi-Desert Medical Center, you’re likely to have an above-average experience. That, according to the Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit that tracks hospital safety nationwide. The group’s Spring report card gives the Joshua Tree facility an overall grade of “B,” a full grade higher than last Fall’s rating and two grades above those of 2015.
The report card also points out several areas for improvement, including maintaining accurate records on medications, communication between doctors and patients and providing effective leadership to prevent errors.
Statements released by the hospital attribute the higher grade to “our commitment in placing patient safety as our top priority” and vow not to rest until that B becomes an A.
