HEARING ON YUCCA MESA CELL PHONE TOWER POSTPONED, AGAIN

A public hearing for a request for approval of a Verizon cell phone tower disguised as a water tower first appeared on the Yucca Valley Planning Commission’s agenda January 12, and two months and four meetings later, the project is still in limbo. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains why…
With two commissioners absent at last night’s planning commission meeting—one due to illness, the other because of the birth of a new grandchild—Yucca Valley planning commissioners elected to postpone the public hearing on the Verizon cell phone tower slated for the southwest corner of Aberdeen and Sage Avenue in Yucca Mesa. Representatives from Verizon and more than a dozen residents were at the meeting; however, only one resident chose to speak out against the project last night. Planning commissioners received a petition with about 100 signatures and at least 40 letters protesting the cell phone tower’s design as a water tower and its location.
