HARRISON HOUSE ADDS “ECOLOGY” TO ITS NAME, SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

Harrison House Music and Arts is adding “Ecology” to its name, and as its first major event, it will host a three-day permaculture lecture in April. To prepare for the lecture, Harrison House is holding a work party March 5 and 6, in which those interested in permaculture will prepare the grounds for the lecture. Those interested in learning about permaculture can join members of the AmeriCorps Gold Team 2 on Saturday, March 5, from noon to 5, and Sunday, March 6, from 10 to 5. Under the guidance of seasoned permaculture designers, workers will create outdoor areas for living in harmony with nature.

The three-day permaculture seminar in April begins 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15 with a free lecture by international permaculture expert Warren Brush. The courses on Saturday and Sunday have limited enrollment, and attendees will have hands-on instruction in sustainable gardening, composting, permaculture design, and related topics. The classes run from 8:30 to 7 on Saturday, and 8:30 to 5 on Sunday, and cost $15. To register for the April course, call 760-366-4712. Harrison House is located at 6881 Sullivan Road in Joshua Tree.
