GROUND OFFICIALLY BROKEN FOR NEW YUCCA VALLEY SEWER PLANT

Hi-Desert Water District broke ground last week for its wastewater treatment and reclamation facility, the anchor of Yucca Valley’s sewer
project. Managing editor Tami Roleff says don’t fill in your septic tank quite yet, though…

The state-of- the-art sewer facility will be built on the east end of Yucca Valley near Home Depot. It will use membrane and ultraviolet technology to treat and purify about one million gallons of wastewater every day, before it is released into recharge ponds. The water will undergo additional, natural filtration as it percolates into the ground and refills the aquifer.

The sewer project began in January 2017 with construction of 75 miles of underground sewer pipes. Properties will begin connecting to the system after construction of the treatment facility is complete, in about 18 months.
