An art reception kicks off this weekend’s events for Gay Pride month in Joshua Tree. The reception will be at ArtTrap, 61961 Sunburst Circle, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday’s events include a Mermaid march at noon, from Hill View Road to La Matadora Gallery, next to the Art Queen complex. Starting at 1 p.m. in the Zandelion’s courtyard, there will be a barbecue and music, followed by a one-act play commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riot in New York City, and a comedy act at 4:30 p.m. by Shann Carr. Sunday’s events start at 10 a.m. with brunch, music, and a poetry reading starting at 11 a.m. All events are free. Free parking is available in a lot south of Coyote Corner on Park Boulevard.
