FOUR MEN INJURED IN CRASH ON AMBOY ROAD THURSDAY NIGHT

Three men were ejected, and a fourth suffered minor injuries, in a single-vehicle crash on Amboy Road Thursday night that also caused sporadic power outages. According to County Fire Captain Dan Nelson, rescue personnel were called at 10:52 p.m. to the crash site, just south of the town of Amboy, where they found a mid-size sedan with major damage in the highway. The car had collided with a power pole, which caused at least one power line to break and begin arcing in the area. Three of the carā€™s occupants, including the driver, had been ejected onto the road and into the surrounding desert and suffered major injuries. The carā€™s front seat passenger was not ejected and was walking around when paramedics arrived; he suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center by Morongo Basin Ambulance. The victims were all between the ages of 18 and 19. The other three men were flown by Mercy Air to trauma centers in the lower desert. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
