FORMER COUNTY SUPERVISORS REPRESENTATIVE ARRAIGNED

UPDATE: On October 20, 2017, a judge found that no crime was committed by Mike Lipsitz and has expunged this from his record.

The former field representative for Third District County Supervisor James Ramos was arraigned yesterday on two complaints that he smuggled contraband into jail in February. Mike Lipsitz, 53, pleaded not guilty to both charges. County Sheriff John McMahon said Ramos immediately fired Lipsitz following his arrest February 4 for allegedly bringing narcotics into the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center for inmate Joshua Rhodes, 25. Ramos himself has refused to answer many queries. A pre-preliminary hearing is set for April 15, followed by a preliminary hearing a few days later, where the evidence against Lipsitz will be presented for the judge to determine if Lipsitz should be held over for trial. Lipsitz is currently a reporter for Z107.7 News, and vigorously denies the charges.
