Yucca Mesa and Joshua Tree firefighters, along with a water tender from Morongo Valley, were called to a structure fire about 6 p.m. Thursday. The 1,200 square-foot structure was in a remote area on Ducor Avenue, off Security Drive just east of Yucca Mesa Road, on the border of Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. Due to the rough condition of the road, Joshua Tree firefighters had to park their fire engine on Security Drive and were shuttled in to the fire’s location to fight the fire. The black smoke from the fire could be seen for miles in all directions.
