FINAL UPDATE ON CANDIDATES UP FOR ELECTION (DAVID, MIKE)

Yesterday was the deadline for candidates to file for office in the upcoming presidential election. Running for three seats at Hi-Desert Memorial Healthcare District are incumbents Patricia Cooper and Joseph Sullivan, and hopefuls Misty Evans, Dianne Markle-Greenhouse, and Bob Armstrong. And for three seats at Joshua Basin Water District, incumbents Mickey Luckman and Bob Johnson are joined in the race by hopefuls Richard Fountain, Geary Hund and Buck Buckley, also with three board seats in play. No big surprises in two local electoral races, both of which had their candidate filing deadlines extended until yesterday.
Ken King, current Twentynine Palms planning commissioner who had pulled papers for one of two City Council seats up for grabs in the Fall election, has now made it formal. He joins a field including incumbent Joel Klink, as well as Steven Bilderain and Jim Krushat.
And the list of candidates for three available seats on the Morongo Unified School District Board of Education has not changed: incumbents Ron Palmer and Karalee Hargrove, retired librarian Denise Cohen and Darin Sanden.
Voting takes place on Nov. 8.
