ENVIROMENTAL GROUP ASKS FOR REHEARING ON EAGLE MOUNTAIN PERMIT

On Monday July 21, the Desert Protection Society (DPS) filed a request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a rehearing of the Commission’s June 19 decision to grant a license to Eagle Crest Energy for its Eagle Mountain Pumped Storage Hydroelectric project. The DPS – which was originally formed as Citizens for the Chuckwalla Valley to fight the Eagle Mountain Landfill project — claims that the order granting the Eagle Crest license violates four Federal environmental laws, claims numerous specific violations of those laws, and lists many grounds for a re-hearing.
