For the average person, nothing eases stress in an emergency like being prepared does. A free, community-wide event this Saturday aims to help you and your family be prepared. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us how to get in on the actionâŚ
âHelp Yourself, Help Your Neighborâ brings together more than 40 agencies of all kinds with the aim of making Morongo Basin families better prepared in an emergency. Learn practical emergency applications and preparedness tips, attend a class such as âStop the Bleedâ or âUntil Help Arrives,â learn hands-on CPR, and pick up a free emergency kit. A variety of presentations and demonstrations will be open to the whole family at the Yucca Valley Community Center March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and its all free, even the hot dogs. Whether itâs a big, Basin-wide emergency or one affecting you and your loved ones only, itâs not âifâ an emergency but âwhen.â Participate this Saturday to get up to speed on an emergency and your pets, safe food, shelter and water, communication plans, evacuation routes and other emergency essentials.
