EARTHQUAKE SAFETY AND PREPAREDNESS

Do you have all your prep done for the big rumble?  Managing Editor Tami Roleff has the earthquake checklist…

We all know the Big One is coming, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but sometime.  Before the Big One strikes, get together with your family or roommates to plan on what each person will do before, during and after an earthquake. Practice drop, cover, and hold on. Identify safe spots in every room. Keep shoes and a flashlight next to your bed. Select a safe place outside your home to meet. Designate an out-of-the-area person as a contact person, and make sure everyone has the phone number. Keep copies of important documents in a secure, waterproof container. Know the locations for the shut-off valves for water, electricity, and gas. And finally, have a disaster preparedness kit ready and accessible.  Reporting for Z107.7, this is managing editor Tami Roleff.
