DOVE HUNTING SEASON IS UNDERWAY

Dove season is open and you may hear the sound of gunfire in some areas. Dove hunting season started September 1, and Sheriff’s dispatch gets numerous “shots heard” and “man-with-a-gun” calls. Dove hunting season runs through September 15. It reopens November 12 to December 26. Non-lead ammunition is required when hunting on in areas managed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, although lead shot is still legal on federal and private lands.
