DESERT GARDENING CLASS OFFERED IN JOSHUA TREE

Temperature and wind extremes, poor soil, lack of rain, and determined critters make growing vegetables in the desert a challenge for any gardener. But donā€™t despair, an upcoming free class aims to give desert vegetable growers the edge. Reporter Mike Lipsitz is here with the detailsā€¦

The Joshua Basin Water District is offering a free four-hour, two-evening course called Desert Edible Gardening. The course is set for February 23 and 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Zoom remote platform. Covered topics will include environmental challenges, GMO versus organics, container and other gardening approaches, soil amending, water conservation and more.
