DESERT GARDENING CLASS OFFERED IN JOSHUA TREE

Temperature and wind extremes, poor soil, lack of rain, and determined critters make growing vegetables in the desert a challenge for any gardener. But don’t despair, an upcoming free class aims to give desert vegetable growers the edge. Reporter Mike Lipsitz is here with the details…

The Joshua Basin Water District is offering a free four-hour, two-evening course called Desert Edible Gardening. The course is set for February 23 and 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Zoom remote platform. Covered topics will include environmental challenges, GMO versus organics, container and other gardening approaches, soil amending, water conservation and more.
