LOCAL DEPUTY ACCUSED OF SEX WITH INMATES IN MORONGO BASIN JAIL

A Morongo Basin Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday, accused of having sex with female inmates at the jail. According to a Sheriff’s report, the Sheriff’s Department received information Friday, July 1, that Deputy Brian DerryBerry, 24, was engaging in sexual activity with a woman who was in the Morongo Basin Jail. Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division immediately looked into the accusations, and learned that Derryberry had sexual contact with numerous female inmates while they were housed at the Morongo Basin Jail. Brian Derryberry was arrested about 5 p.m. Friday, July 8, on suspicion of two different counts of engaging in sexual activity with a consenting adult in a jail, booked at the Adelanto Jail, with his bail set at $50,000. Derryberry, who has been a Sheriff’s deputy since April 2014, is no longer employed by the Sheriff’s Department.
