DA REVIEWING DOUBLE FATAL MORONGO VALLEY DUI CASE FROM JUNE OF 2019

More than a year after a suspected DUI driver killed two teenagers in Morongo Valley, the District Attorney’s office is finally reviewing the case. In May, the California Highway Patrol said it was nearly ready to send the case of Nicole Packer, 34, to the District Attorney’s office for review. Packer is alleged to have crashed her Ford Fiesta into a Toyota Prius driven by Colin Campbell near the Circle K parking lot on Highway 62 in Morongo Valley on June 12, 2019. Campbell’s two teenagers in the back seat, Hart Campbell, 14, and Ruby Campbell, 17, died a few hours later at a local trauma hospital. The District Attorney’s office told Z107.7 News, “The case is under review. There may be supplemental work or additional investigation requested by the DA upon completion of that review….The DA is diligent and thorough when reviewing cases; filing decisions are based on whether charges, if any, can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury.”
