COUPLE KILLED IN LANDERS CRASH FRIDAY IDENTIFIED

The two people killed in a head-on collision in Landers Friday evening have been identified. Krüe Karnbach, 22 from Johnson Valley and his 19-year-old female passenger Natalie Craddock were pronounced deceased at the scene after the 5:30 pm crash. CHP investigators said Michael Daugherty, 24, of Big Bear, was driving a Dodge Durango northbound on Old Woman Springs Road at about 55 miles per hour and attempted to pass a tractor-trailer just north of Linn Road. When Daugherty pulled into the southbound lane to pass, he saw a Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Karnbach driving toward him in the southbound lane. Taking evasive action, Daugherty swerved to the left, Karnbach swerved to the right, causing a head-on collision. Daugherty received major injuries; his 1-year-old daughter, who was restrained in a child safety seat, received minor injuries. Both were taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
