COUNTY TO DELIVER 2,000 LAPTOPS TO SCHOOLS

When Governor Gavin Newsom ordered all California schools to begin the 2020-2021 school year via distance learning, school districts statewide began ordering electronic devices for students. The resulting glut of orders caused massive backorders from manufacturers. After months of waiting, San Bernardino County has received a shipment of electronic devices for students. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details on where those devices are headedā€¦

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors allocated $1.4 million of CARES Act funding to purchase nearly 2,000 electronic devices for county students who either have limited access to technology or must share their devices with others in their home. The devices are scheduled to be delivered to the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools this week. Fourteen school districts, ROP programs, and charter schools were selected to receive a portion of the order, including Morongo Unified, which will receive 200 of the devices.
