COUNTY SUPERVISORS MEET TOMORROW, SEVERAL LOCAL ITEMS ON THE AGENDA

At tomorrow’s regular 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino, the board will consider several items exclusive to our Morongo Basin. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us what is on the agenda…

Supervisors are expected to grant final approval and advertise for bid a methane gas collection and processing facility at the Landers Landfill. Also, the board will conduct a public hearing to consider appeals of the Planning Commission’s approval of a Mitsubishi Cement Corporation plan to develop a 128-acre limestone quarry on a Lucerne Valley mountainside. And the board is expected to approve a five-year contract extension for county participation in a conservation program with the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center and other stakeholders for development in the Desert View Conservation Area. The agreement concerns the protection and recovery of Desert Tortoise and preservation of wildlife linkages at the Joshua Tree site.

The public may survey the meeting live online or at the county government building in Joshua Tree where comments may be made via live video link.
