COUNTY SUPERVISORS EXPECTED TO MAKE LOCAL APPOINTMENTS TOMORROW

In what must be any politician’s dream come true, county supervisors are expected to appoint three candidates to three open seats on the Twentynine Palms Water District board. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more on that and other expected actions at tomorrow’s 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino…
Because only three candidates filed for three seats at the Twentynine Palms Water District, county supervisors are expected to appoint incumbents Robert Coghill, and “Suzi” Horn, and newcomer Randy Leazer to four-year terms on the water district’s governing board. The appointments are in lieu of what was expected to be an August 29 mail ballot election. Also tomorrow, supervisors are expected to appoint Ellen Jackman to fill an open board seat on the Morongo Basin Transit Authority. Jackman is an attorney for the Marine Corps and lives in Joshua Tree where she is president of the Monument Manor Neighborhood Association. And finally, supervisors will declare as open the Pioneertown seat on the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council. That seat has been held by Michelle Myers since March 2015. Tomorrow’s meeting streams online and to the first-floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road in Joshua Tree where public comment may be made via live video link.
