COUNTY SAYS WONDER VALLEY FIRE STATION WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR NOW

The County will be keeping the Wonder Valley Fire station open, for now. Wonder Valley MAC representative Teresa Sitz posted Tuesday evening that she had been contacted by San Bernardino County Assistant Fire Chief Tom Marshall who told her, “Today the fire budget was approved and (Wonder Valley) station 45 was included.” Sitz said that guarantees fire service in Wonder Valley for at least another year. Just Monday evening County Fire battalion Chief Mike Snow had told the MAC that Wonder Valley was being considered for possible closure. Snow also told the MAC, “The stations in Landers, Pioneertown and Johnson Valley will remain open for now; they will eventually be staffed by volunteers rather than paid firefighters.” While Snow said they would “remain open”, some of those fire stations have been closed for years and Z107.7 News is trying get clarification on their status now and in the near future.
