COUNTY OFFICIAL CAUGHT IN PROSTITUTION STING GETS OVER 300K

San Bernardino County will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to its ousted human resources director who was caught in a prostitution sting. Andrew Lamberto will receive $337,258.51 through May 27, according to a settlement approved yesterday by the board of Supervisors. Starting May 28, Lamberto will be able to use the balance of his paid administrative, holiday and vacation time, which he will continue to accrue while on leave, His resignation becomes effective when that paid time ends. The Lamberto scandal has generated calls for more transparency and accountability among county government. The public service workers union have protested at board meetings and called for the ouster of Lamberto and his boss, county CEO Greg Devereaux. Devereaux knew about Lamberto’s March 27 arrest and his August 18 guilty plea to engaging in prostitution, a misdemeanor, in Orange County Superior Court. But he did not tell supervisors about the incident. Lamberto, 51, of Mission Viejo, served 10 days of community service in lieu of jail time and was placed on three years’ probation. He was ordered to undergo AIDS testing and education and submit a DNA sample.
