COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE SPORTS

Friday night, the Copper Mountain College Fighting Cacti took a very tough loss on the road to Santiago Canyon College, 103-96. Coach Devin Aye says the Copper Mountain College men’s team is 14-5 on the year and 1-1 in the Orange Empire Conference. Next game is Wednesday, January 10, against Irvine Valley College, 5 p.m. Tip-off at the Bell center in Joshua Tree.
Jailen Moore led the Fighting Cacti in scoring with 18 points; Ronald Bell scored 16 points, Murshid Randal netted 14 points, Rosemond Alexis and Isiah Blackmon both with 11 points, and Jaleel Simmons Chipped in 10.
The Copper Mountain women’s basketball Fighting Cacti took that long trip to Saddleback College on Friday for their second conference game of the season. Coach Hosie Ward said the team was shorthanded and a little bit banged up, and lost 80-34.
Tusitusia Brown led  with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and eight block shots. Courtney Stanford had eight points, four rebounds, and three assists. Celeste Reyes added six points and eight rebounds.
