COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE PRESIDENT RETIRING

Jeff Cummings

The superintendent/president of Copper Mountain College is retiring. Jeff Cummings informed CMC’s board of trustees of his retirement effective June 30, 2019, during a closed session of the Board of Trustees last week. Cummings arrived as interim superintendent/president in 2014 and was hired permanently in May 2015. A college spokesman told Z107.7 News, “After 31 years of service to the California Community College System, he felt it was time to contemplate the beginning of a new chapter. Among his accomplishments, after improving the overall stability and function of Copper Mountain College, Cummings was able to gather community and institutional support around the development of a new athletic program and in the fall of 2017 the Fighting Cacti took the court with men’s and women’s basketball. Cummings also created a strong working relationship with the Morongo Unified School District resulting in a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Districts.”
