COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BUILDING TO BE NAMED AFTER LONG-TIME SUPPORTER

A long-time supporter of Copper Mountain College will be honored with a building named after her. At yesterday’s meeting of the college’s board of trustees, the board accepted a $100,000 donation from retired Marine Colonel R.M. Proudfoot of Twentynine Palms, in honor of his wife, Christine, to be applied toward the construction of the college’s new, and as of yet, unbuilt, student center. The CMC Board Trustees unanimously agreed yesterday to name the building the Christine Proudfoot Student Activity Center. Christine Proudfoot, who died June 10, was one of the founding members of the CMC Foundation (once called Friends of Copper Mountain College), and she served on numerous committees for the college Foundation from 1993 to 2005. With this $100,000 donation, the college is about half-way toward the projected cost of $500,000 for the student activity center.
