COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BASKETBALL

The men’s Fighting Cacti basketball team of Copper Mountain College dropped another tough loss on the road again last night by just one possession against a scrappy Riverside City College team, 63-62.
Coach Devin Aye said it was the third time this season the men’s team faced off against RCC and throughout the first half CMC seemed to have the game in hand. Going into the half, Copper Mountain held a five-point lead 29-24. A lot of silly miscues and a late turnover in the second half sparked a late RCC run that would eventually lead to a one-point loss for the Cacti 63-62. This is another heartbreaker for CMC as they have lost four conference games this year by just one possession. Copper Mountain falls to 18-9 on the year and 5-5 in OEC Conference play.
Ronald Bell led CMC in scoring with 16 points and Murshid Randle chipped in 10 points.

The Copper Mountain College Fighting Cacti women’s basketball team took to the road last night in a conference game versus Riverside City College, and lost, 91-29.

Coach Hosie Ward said a slow start proved to be their downfall, as they fell behind 22-2 at the end of the first quarter. The halftime score was 47-11. “We played a little better in the second half but ran out of gas.” The final score was 91-29. Tusitusia Brown led with 17 points, six rebounds, and 7 block shots.

The next game is a home affair against Fullerton College at the Bell Center. The game begins at 5:00 p.m.
