Friday night proved to be a tough one for Copper Mountain men’s basketball team as it seemed like they played in the Twilight Zone all night long and dropped a very ugly game to a super-hot sharp-shooting team in Cuesta College. Cuesta made a ton of tough shots and kept the Fighting Cacti on their heels all night. After 9 p.m. tip-off, CMC could never really get going. Cuesta made shot after shot and went into the half 41-38. Nothing really changed for the Fighting Cacti in the second half as Cuesta made consecutive 3-point shots and stretched the lead to almost 20 points at one point. Despite the valiant effort from Jaleel Simmons, who led all scorers with 26 points, and Tre’Von Bentley who added 10 points, it’s wasn’t enough to close the gap and Copper Mountain took the loss 78-69.
