CONTROVERSIAL SOLAR PROJECT ISSUE BACK AT JOSHUA BASIN WATER TONIGHT

The thorny question of a water will-serve letter for a controversial solar project will be back in front of the Joshua Basin Water District Board tonight. Reporter Mike Lipsitz checks the agenda…
At tonight’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the board must again consider if it will authorize the general manager to execute a will-serve letter and water supply agreement for the NextEra solar project. The issue has become protracted as the water district grapples with fulfilling its mission of providing water while protecting the area’s natural resources and meeting state-mandated conservation targets. Also tonight, the board is expected to receive an update on those conservation efforts. Those items and others will follow public comments. Committee, staff and director’s reports come later. It all starts at 7 p.m. at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
