CONTROVERSIAL JOSHUA TREE CONCERT RESULTS IN ONLY TWO ARRESTS

The three-day concert at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center last weekend was relatively quiet and peaceful. The Sheriff’s Department reports that only two arrests were made during the event. Daniel Cruz, 22, of Anaheim, allegedly approached security guards about 9:30 p.m. Sunday and asked if they had any drugs for sale. Daniel Cruz was arrested for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, cited and released. Heather Neffew of San Marcos was arrested about 11 p.m. Sunday for suspicion of public intoxication after she pulled IV lines out of her husband’s arm who was receiving medical treatment. Heather Neffew was also booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, cited, and released. In addition, the Sheriff’s Department received five noise complaints, but decibel readers were onsite and used to ensure the concert was in compliance with the county’s sound ordinance. The next major music event schedule for the Retreat Center is called “Desert Daze” and has been advertised as happening October 14 through 16.
