CONTROVERSIAL CELL PHONE TOWER BACK IN FRONT OF Y.V. PLANNING COMMISSION

UPDATE 4 P.M.: THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO A LACK OF A QUORUM.

A controversial neighborhood cell tower is back in front of the Yucca Valley Planning Commission tonight. Managing Editor Tami Roleff has the options…
The issue of the cell phone tower is on the agenda once again at tonight’s meeting of the Yucca Valley Planning Commission. Neighbors are upset that Verizon wants to build a 52-foot tall cell phone tower disguised as a water tower on the southwest corner of Sage and Aberdeen Avenues. Two weeks ago, residents met with representatives from Verizon and its contractor to discuss alternative locations and designs for the tower. Tonight, commissioners will discuss whether to approve the design and location as originally requested, or require Verizon to present alternative locations, or deny the project entirely. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
