COMPTON MAN ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING IN FLAMINGO HEIGHTS

A Compton man is behind bars at the Morongo Basin Jail, accused of kidnapping his estranged wife. According to Sergeant Rick Hutchins of the Sheriff’s Department, a Las Vegas woman went to a party in the 56200 block of Luna Vista in Flamingo Heights, north of Yucca Valley, last Saturday. Her husband, Juan Martinez, 44, and her 7-year-old son were also there. Sergeant Hutchins said when the woman tried to leave to return to Las Vegas, Martinez took her phone and keys and told her she couldn’t leave. Hutchins said the woman went back into the house, and was followed by Martinez, who then grabbed her and took her into a trailer in back of the house and again told her she couldn’t leave. The woman managed to escape and flag down a deputy. Juan Martinez was arrested for investigation of kidnapping and for violation of felony parole. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $250,000 and is being held without bail for the parole violation.
