The Morongo Basin Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, will hold a community disaster preparedness day on Saturday, October 10. The event will have free information and live demonstrations from Southern California Edison, the county fire department, and the Sheriff’s Department, and others, on public safety. Some of the topics that will be covered are basic first aid, resources and deployment, water purification and storage, animal care, disaster supplies and kits, survival skills, and food storage and solar cooking. The event will be held in the Walmart parking lot in Yucca Valley from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
