CHRISTMAS IN MAY AT COUNTY SUPERVISORS MEETING TOMORROW

One way to know an election is near is to look at the money flowing out of San Bernardino. Yes, it’s Christmas in May. Assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz has details …
At tomorrow’s 10 a.m. meeting of the County Board of Supervisors in San Bernardino, the board is expected to throw money at a number of worthy causes in our area. Reach Out Morongo Basin is expected to receive a contract extension and funding increase of $36,000 for caregiver support. Hi-Desert Medical Center will also see a year-long contract extension and an increase of $640,000 to provide mental health court services. The board is also expected to start the gears turning on a $1,118,300 grant application to widen Sunburst Avenue in Joshua Tree to make way for a bike lane. Unity Home can count on an annual contract extension and a doubling of their county funding to $574,048 to provide domestic violence intervention services here. And finally, the board will sign off on an agreement to lease Twentynine Palms’ Adobe Road fire station for seven years for a total cost of $228,012.
Tomorrow’s meeting, and every Board of Supervisor’s meeting, streams online and to the first floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road where public comment can be made via live video link.
