CARJACKING IN JOSHUA TREE

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Wednesday morning, accusing of an armed carjacking his girlfriend’s car. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Odie Beavers, 46, was with his girlfriend driving on Highway 62 about 7:30 a.m. when they began to argue. The report states Beavers smashed the radio in her older blue car. Fearing for her safety, the woman pulled into the parking lot of the courthouse in Joshua Tree, and Beavers allegedly kicked her out of the vehicle, and then took off. The report states that Beavers hit a black SUV at the intersection of Whitefeather Road and the highway, showed the other driver a high-powered rifle, and then drove off onto dirt roads north of the highway, but Beavers was eventually located by Sheriff’s deputies near the Sunfair Dry Lake Bed. Odie Beavers was arrested for investigation of carjacking, and on warrants. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his total bail set at $300,000.
