A man was hospitalized Thursday night following a crash into a Yucca Valley restaurant. According to Deputy Troy Kaukani, just before 10 p.m., Dioga Almeida was driving an Audi A4 eastbound on Highway 62 when for unknown reasons, Almeida’s Audi crossed the median and westbound lanes just east of Dumosa Avenue, jumped the curb, clipped a delivery van in the Food 4 Less parking lot, and crashed through the front doors and into the interior of the restaurant, causing major damage to the restaurant. There were no injuries to anyone inside the restaurant; Almeida was flown to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs as a precaution. Sergeant Jim Thornburg said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
