CAMPING AT CAPACITY IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

Joshua Tree National Park is struggling with over capacity visitation and managing the crowds. Park Ranger George Land is warning prospective visitors that there are just not enough Park camping sites to go around and there are rules on camping…
As visitation to Joshua Tree National Park increases, many people are making the trip to come in and enjoy the park, including those who wish to camp.
The park has eight campgrounds and a total of 494 campsites. Only two campgrounds accept reservations; others are first-come, first-served. There are regulations to adhere to when planning and camping in this beautiful desert park:
No more than two vehicles, three tents, and six people are allowed per site, at all times. Groups over six people cannot gather in one spot, as this has a negative impact on the surrounding resources.
Feel free to contact us by phone or online at www.nps.gov/jotr for more information on the best way to enjoy your camping experience.
