CALTRANS PLANNING FOUR LEFT TURN POCKETS IN JOSHUA TREE

The California Department of Transportation, or CalTrans, is seeking comments on a planned road expansion and installation of left turn lanes at four locations in Joshua Tree. The two-way left turn lanes will be installed between Sherwood Avenue and Torres Avenue; Border Avenue and Rice Avenue; Coyote Valley Road and Cascade Road; and Copper Mesa Road and Lee Drive. CalTrans will widen the existing roadbed an additional 12 feet by removing the shoulder and adding new pavement on one or both sides of the highway to accommodate the turn lanes. To comment on the proposed left-turn lanes, send your written comments by February 3 to:
