CALIFORNIA IS THE STATE WITH THE 2ND MOST CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS

Americans experienced months of heavy restrictions on their everyday life in order to fight the coronavirus, but now all states have at least partially reopened. In order to determine the states with the fewest coronavirus restrictions, WalletHub, a personal finance website, compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 14 key metrics, and determined that California is the state with the second-most coronavirus restrictions. In order to identify the states that have the fewest coronavirus restrictions, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 14 relevant metrics, such as stay-at-home orders; requiring face masks in public; travel restrictions; restrictions on large public gatherings; closing schools, restaurants and bars, non-essential businesses, child care facilities, and when or if they were allowed to reopen; health checks and screening at businesses; and more. Based on these metrics, California ranked as having the second most restrictions of 50 states and the District of Columbia. It also showed that California ranked in the middle—twenty-third—of COVID-19 death rates versus restrictions.

Now that the state is loosening its restrictions, its death rate is climbing. According to the Los Angeles Times, over the last week, the state is averaging 2,795 new cases and 61.3 new deaths per day. Los Angeles County, which contains 25 percent of the state’s population, has 49 percent of the state’s new cases in June. For more information, visit the link below.
