Desert Blood Services will conduct two community blood drives on Wednesday, August 19. The first will be at the hospital in Joshua Tree from 10 to 2, followed by a blood drive at Vons in Yucca Valley from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Donors will receive incentives. In addition, Desert Blood Services now offers donors free cholesterol screening and a mini-physical with every blood donation. Those aged 18 to 44 years may register for Be the Match bone marrow screening free of charge. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 800-TRY-GIVING.
