AVOID CONSTRUCTION ZONES IN YUCCA VALLEY AND ARIZONA

Several roads in Yucca Valley are under construction due to the sewer project in Yucca Valley. The Hi-Desert Water District is asking Memorial Day weekend travelers to avoid using Balsa Avenue and Avalon Avenue, north of the highway. On the south side of the highway, avoid Balsa and Hanford, Avalon and Palomar, and Sunnyslope. If you travel on Yucca Trail/Alta Loma, or live in the Western Hills or Sky Harbor neighborhoods, alternate streets to get to the highway in Yucca Valley are La Contenta and Warren Vista. Remember to reduce your speed limits to 15 miles per hour in these construction zones.

And for those who are traveling to Arizona…

The Arizona Department of Transportation is reconstructing the Ehrenberg port of entry (milepost 3.5). That will mean restricting eastbound I-10 to one lane for a short distance, which could mean delays (both lanes are open during the holiday weekend). In addition, there is a 10-foot width restriction for that single lane. During the holiday weekend, law enforcement will escort wide loads through the port area. But beginning Tuesday, no wide loads will be allowed, which means wide vehicles will either have to go north to I-40 or south to I-8. The restrictions will be in place through the end of September.
