UPDATED May 17, 2024: The deceased was identified as Jonathon Tucker, a 22 year-old from Twentynine Palms, by the Riverside County Coroner's Office. The Hyundai was driven by a Yucca Valley man who suffered from minor injuries. The CHP says that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision. Man receives live rattlesnake in package at Twentynine Palms Post Office

A man opened a box he received at the Twentynine Palms post office and found a live rattlesnake inside. According to the Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to Twentynine Palms, a man is reported to have picked up a package at the post office and when he opened the package he found a live rattlesnake. The reporting party told deputies that the package had a return address from Florida, and that the snake was left on the side of the road near the post office. Responding deputies identified the…

Twentynine Palms Cemetery Board of Trustees meets tomorrow (5/21)

The Twentynine Palms Cemetery District Board of Trustees meets in regular session tomorrow (May 20) where they will discuss policies for the upcoming fiscal year and receive a presentation on the preliminary budget. The board will also go into closed session to review the district general manager’s contract. The board’s meeting is open to the public and begins tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at 5350 Encelia Ave. in Twentynine Palms.

Yucca Valley road closures and street maintenance for May 20th – 24th

Road closures are happening in Yucca Valley this week as the town conducts its annual street maintenance. The Town-Wide Crack, Slurry and Cape Seal Project continues this week and for the next several weeks. Road closures for this week have been announced. Luckie Park Multi-Sport Court for tennis and pickleball opens today

The Multi-Sport Court at Luckie Park opens to the public today (May 20). The new courts feature both pickleball and tennis configurations for players on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pickleball nets, balls, and paddles can be obtained for use at the Parks & Recreation Department office during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, with a refundable deposit of $50.00. Two fires in Yucca Valley this weekend

Two small fires within a few miles of each other but 24 hours apart sent black smoke billowing into the sky in Yucca Valley.
