AUSTRIAN WOMAN RESCUED MONDAY AT AMBOY CRATER

An Austrian woman was rescued out at Amboy Crater Monday morning after she injured her ankle while hiking with her husband. County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle says the woman, who is in her 50s, was unable to hike back to the parking lot due to possibly breaking her ankle. Rescue personnel from the Wonder Valley and Twentynine Palms fire stations arrived on scene about 10:30 a.m. and put her ankle in a splint and gave her pain medication; a Sheriff’s helicopter arrived about 10 minutes later. The woman was flown to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment.
