AUDITIONS FORCOMEDY CHRISTMAS CAROL AT THEATRE 29 TONIGHT

Theatre 29 will hold auditions tonight for the “Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s ‘A Christmas Carol.’” In this hilarious show, an English troupe of ladies mount an assault on Dickens’ holiday classic. Director Marty Neider is seeking a cast of four women and one man in the following roles: Phoebe Reece is 30 to 50 years old, the troupe’s leader. She plays multiple roles in the play within a play. Thelma Greenwood, also 30 to 50; she’s Reece’s grumpy, arch rival; she plays Scrooge. Mercedes Baxter-Smythe is 30 to 50 and eager to please, but accident prone. Felicity Kumar is 20 to 30; the shy, eager young ingenue. Gordon Pugh is the troupe’s stage manager until a cast injury forces him into the spotlight. Auditions are this evening, Monday, October 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Theatre 29 at 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms.
